Primary School
Welcome to Primary
When we speak of children we must remember that in each case a promise, a future and irreplaceable life is at stake.
At Greenacre Christian College, we are privileged to journey together with parents as we seek to create an environment that encourages, nurtures, and challenges your child to become the very best they can be.
The staff at GCC are dedicated, enthusiastic professionals who are committed to providing a stimulating and challenging learning environment. The children are encouraged and supported in achieving their personal best. We strive to make our College a place where every child feels safe and where they are encouraged to develop 21st century learning skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication.
As a parent/guardian, we hope you will partner with the teachers in the development of the academic, social, emotional, physical and spiritual life of your child. We encourage you to participate wherever you can in the life of the College.
Warmly,
Mrs Grace Porceddu | Head of Primary
Why GCC for Primary?
Our Christian teachers are passionate, expert educators who know their students well and care about helping them to achieve in all areas of their education.
Our Christian teachers embed real life application of Christian values and Biblical perspectives into the whole curriculum.
Students receive individually tailored tuition through our small class sizes and extra support staff.
Our consistently outstanding NAPLAN results show our students are receiving excellent academic education.
Our continuous screening and well trained, dedicated staff helps us identify needs and areas of growth in every student so that all students are known and can achieve.
Our cohesive K-12 approach to individualised learning ensures that all students are supported and extended.
Intra and extracurricular activities provide a range of opportunities for students to apply their learning to areas of interest
Our cohesive, K-12 approach ensures that learning is seamless and builds from kindergarten to year 12.
We have high expectations for our students while supporting them to thrive.
We teach our students to put their faith and learning into action through providing opportunities to serve and reach the wider community.
Our Positive Action Program and Peacewise Program explicitly teach students Biblically grounded strategies and concepts that show them how to live Christ centered lives.
Our pastoral care program provides a safe and supportive environment which gives students the confidence to take opportunities and risks in their learning, and therefore reach their potential.
Preparing for a Smooth Transition to School
Our Transition to School Program is designed to help students build friendships, develop a sense of community and belonging, and confidently adjust to the changes that come with starting Kindergarten.
Through engaging activities, students become familiar with the school environment, helping them feel excited and prepared for their new journey. The program introduces classroom routines, fosters positive relationships with teachers and peers, and equips students with the confidence to begin Kindergarten with ease.
Students who participate in our Transition to School Program start Kindergarten feeling calm, capable, and ready to thrive.
Students enrolled for Kindergarten are invited to attend two half-day sessions in Terms 3 and 4 to support their transition.
Year 6 to Year 7 Transition Program
Moving from Year 6 to Year 7 is an exciting step in a student’s journey, and our Transition Program is designed to make this change smooth and enjoyable.
During this program, Year 6 students spend a week with their current teacher while experiencing life in the secondary school environment. This allows them to become familiar with new routines, classrooms, and expectations while still having the support of a trusted teacher.
Through engaging lessons, meeting secondary staff, and navigating the school with confidence, students develop a sense of belonging and excitement for the next stage of their education. By the end of the program, they feel prepared, capable, and ready to thrive in Year 7.
Our goal is to ensure every student transitions into secondary school feeling confident, connected, and excited for what lies ahead.
